Thus, it took me a long time to accept to the diagnosis and follow through with the recommended program of diet, exercise and medication. I noticed that I went through waves of denial, anger, grief, and finally acceptance. At times I also experienced fear, obsession with diet and exercise, frustration, guilt and embarrassment about being diabetic. Sound familiar? It turns out that all of this is perfectly normal for people with diabetes, but not very healthy.
Eventually, I came to see this condition as an opportunity for personal growth and for developing inner strength. It’s been one of my greatest teachers and greatest healers. It put me in touch with my soul’s dreams and helped me learn what really matters. And that gives me great joy. I’d like to help you take that journey too.
